Laura and Luciano are gems”
First I want to say that staying at Il Canto del Sole was one of the best experiences of my life.
All the good things the other reviewers said are true plus more.
Until I contacted Laura, our trip in Italy had been difficult due to some stressful situations. First my husband had his wallet stolen with money and credit cards. Then (this is hard to believe), after we bought our train tickets at La Spezia to go to Siena, I lost my wallet with money and credit cards.. To get to Siena, we had to change trains in Empoli. My husband got off the train, but the train doors closed before I could get off. I got off at the next stop thinking that I would take the train back to the station where my husband got off. I didn't know that on a late Sunday night, no more trains were going in that direction. So here I was at 10:30pm with no money or credit cards standing in a deserted train station. We had a reservation that night at Il Canto del Sole for that night. So I called Laura (whom I had never met). Laura called the police near where I was stranded and talked them into driving me 20 kilometers back to where my husband was.
In addition, since we had no money, Laura assisted us in getting money wired from American Express to a location in Siena where we could pick it up. Laura spent literally hours trying to help us with our stressful situations. She turned what was looking like a disastrous trip into a good one. Laura, if you are reading this, thank you!!!
In addition she is a fantastic cook! If you stay at Il Canto del Sole, be sure to have one of her
I can not say enough good things about Laura and Luciano and their B&B farm. I hope you are lucky enough to stay there.

Luciano and Laura are fantastic hosts and the property is impeccable. Luciano and Laura's warmth and generosity will forever stay in our hearts and our stay at Canto was the highlight of our visit to Italy. The location of the B&B is ideal and is a great headquarters if you plan to visit Florence, Pisa and Rome. If you visit (and you must) ensure that Laura tells you the story behind the property.

For a frequent traveller there are some features that make the difference. Leave aside that I expect a clean room and a functioning bathroom with white towels which is all there, it is the emotional part. That is exeptional in this house. You feel like home there. The owners have a big heart for people and animals and one feels that. They accommodated to all our wishes. The place is beautifully located with a terrace and an exceptional view where we had dinner. Food was simple but delicious accompanied by a very nice Brunello. My 5 stars rate the warmth and 'feel good' factor of the place. It's not fancy but it's pure and authentic.

We arrived with overcast skies and a slight rain. It didn't dappen the warmth of Il Canto del Sole. My husband and two daughters (age 17 and 21)and I arrived after 3 and 1/2 days of massive sight-seeing. What a relief to "kick-back" and enjoy a wonderful afternoon into evening of pure bliss. Luciano and Laura truly made their home OUR home. We dined with our own bread, cheese, and sausages while drinking some fine Brunello in their dining room. Suddenly, we had a hot plate of tasty pasta to complete the meal. Unexpected pleasure followed by unexpected sweet pastries. The rooms, location, food, owners -- all first class. Poor weather could never dampen the experience -- Il Canto del Sole simply shines! (Ask about the thermal hot springs in the area -- great suggestion for experiencing the best of Tuscany!) We WILL return!!!!

We had 3 great nights at Il Canto Del Sole. What an amazing location. The rooms are fantastic, with a communal breakfast area and lounge area. The property is large and even though there were all rooms full, you never really felt over-crowded. We had the home cooked dinner one night and boy oh boy was it plentiful and delicious. Laura does a great job and you can taste her love for cooking! Laura and Luciano were very helpful and we would definitely come back to their little piece of paradise. It's a short drive out of Siena, and easily accessible to Florence by car. If I had to recommend anything for improvement - maybe some flyscreens on the windows so you can open up the rooms without the bugs and also, something to soften the mattresses - seemed to be a common theme amongst some of the guests during our stay. With that said, I wouldn't want to take anything away from a venue that is just perfect!!
