“what a lovely place”

Thank you Laura, Luciano, and Marco for a wonderful stay. We left feeling a part of your family. We did not have a car (oops- I def recommend getting a car if staying outside of Siena) and Luciano was very accommodating and picked us up from the train station- even though it was late when we arrived. He checked us in and then offered us a glass wine to help us settle in. We stayed for 4 nights and could have stayed longer. The rooms were very quiet, spacious, clean, and homey. The mattress in our room was very old- so wasn't too comfortable, but everything else made up for it. We rented the mountain bikes available and took a bike ride through the Tuscan valley. Since we didn't have a car- it was difficult to get meals- but Laura had no problem cooking up lunch for us when requested. It was an extra charge- but very minimal. During our stay we were also lucky enough to participate in a dinner on the patio under the stars in Siena! Laura cooked up a delicious 5 course homemade meal for the entire B&B while Luciano served us. This was our fondest memory of our trip to Italy. The food was amazing and it really gave us the authentic Italian experience. Breakfast was very nice with a huge spread of fresh pastries, fruit, cereal, and bread. Luciano and Marco served hot cappuccinos or espressos that were delicious. I would go back to this B&B in a heartbeat. The service provided was above and beyond. Our stay was relaxing and memorable- just what we were looking for.

We travelled around Italy for 10 days at the end of June/early July and spent our last 3 days at Il Canto del Sole. This was by far our favourite of the places we visited. Laura and Luciano make you feel very much at home. Laura's cooking lived up to our expectations, having read all of the glowing reviews. She cooked an amazing buffet meal for us, which included lasagna, panzanella, a big selection of cold meats and cheeses and Luciano's home made bread. Luciano's home made white wine was also delicious. Our bedroom was rustic and Italian and incredibly comfortable. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them and they made our stay perfect. It was also ideally located, just 15 minutes from Sienna but also in the peaceful countryside. We cannot wait to return.

I am embarrassed to admit that it's taken me so long to write here. We stayed at Il Canot over Christmas of 2012. Words can't describe how warmly we were welcomed and how well we were fed!! There are 4 in our family and we all had a great time. I would HIGHLY recommend Il Canto if you are looking for a gracious family and warm accommodations in a beautiful setting.

What a wonderful place to stay. The hosts Laura & Luciano are wonderful, nothing was a problem and the home cooked dinner night was spectacular. The location is fantastic for exploring the tuscan hilltop towns and is very close to Siena. We could not have asked for a more amazing and relaxing place to stay. Hope to come back some day and stay again. Highly recommend staying here if you want some peace and quiet not too far from the cities while visiting Tuscany.

Laura and Luciano are gems”
First I want to say that staying at Il Canto del Sole was one of the best experiences of my life.
All the good things the other reviewers said are true plus more.
Until I contacted Laura, our trip in Italy had been difficult due to some stressful situations. First my husband had his wallet stolen with money and credit cards. Then (this is hard to believe), after we bought our train tickets at La Spezia to go to Siena, I lost my wallet with money and credit cards.. To get to Siena, we had to change trains in Empoli. My husband got off the train, but the train doors closed before I could get off. I got off at the next stop thinking that I would take the train back to the station where my husband got off. I didn't know that on a late Sunday night, no more trains were going in that direction. So here I was at 10:30pm with no money or credit cards standing in a deserted train station. We had a reservation that night at Il Canto del Sole for that night. So I called Laura (whom I had never met). Laura called the police near where I was stranded and talked them into driving me 20 kilometers back to where my husband was.
In addition, since we had no money, Laura assisted us in getting money wired from American Express to a location in Siena where we could pick it up. Laura spent literally hours trying to help us with our stressful situations. She turned what was looking like a disastrous trip into a good one. Laura, if you are reading this, thank you!!!
In addition she is a fantastic cook! If you stay at Il Canto del Sole, be sure to have one of her
I can not say enough good things about Laura and Luciano and their B&B farm. I hope you are lucky enough to stay there.
